Internet users across Pakistan reported widespread disruptions on Thursday, with slow browsing speeds and intermittent connectivity affecting multiple cities, according to outage monitoring platform Downdetector.
The disruptions have affected users to access the internet for work, communication, and online services. The exact cause of the slowdown has not been determined.
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has not issued an official statement on the reported outages.
Social media users took to X (formerly Twitter) to report slow speeds and intermittent connectivity, with many demanding an explanation from the relevant authorities.
Meanwhile, Nayatel has warned customers that they may experience slower internet browsing due to a degradation in an international submarine cable segment.
The company said the issue is affecting international connectivity, while restoration work is currently underway. Nayatel added that its technical teams are coordinating with the upstream provider to restore normal services as quickly as possible.
It did not identify the affected submarine cable or provide an estimated timeline for full restoration.
