Punjab School and Higher Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat says the province is completing 100,000 Google Career Certificate scholarships, training over 2,000 teachers, and issuing 100,000 cloud IDs under the Google Read Along and Gemini programmes.
The provincial minister shared these figures on social media in response to the newly launched Google Gemini education initiative by the provincial government of Sindh.
Responding to the announcement, Hayat pointed to the progress in technology education in Punjab, citing the scale of the scholarship rollout, teacher training figures, and cloud ID issuance as evidence of the parallel push of the province into AI-linked learning tools.
The statement followed the launch of the first Google Gemini for Education Corner at NED University by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah last Wednesday.
On the same occasion, the Sindh government announced 20,000 Google Career Certificate scholarships for students at public-sector universities across the province.
Sindh rolled out both initiatives in partnership with Google and Tech Valley Pakistan to bridge the digital divide and equip the youth with essential modern technical skills.
Under the scholarship programme, students will gain access to internationally recognised certifications in high-demand fields, including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data analytics, project management, UX design, digital marketing, e-commerce, and IT support.
