The newly merged telecom entity, comprising PTML (Ufone) and Telenor Pakistan, has officially appointed Mudasser Shafiq as its Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Previously, Shafiq served as the acting CFO for Telenor Pakistan. Now, he steps up to lead the financial strategy for the newly merged operator.
Consequently, Shafiq brings over 18 years of robust telecom industry experience to the merged entity. Academically, he holds an MBA in Finance and is ACCA qualified. Furthermore, he completed an Executive MBA from the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). His professional background seamlessly combines strong technical expertise with strategic and commercial acumen.
In his previous role at Telenor, Mudasser Shafiq successfully oversaw financial strategy, governance, and reporting functions. He consistently maintained strict financial discipline. Additionally, he effectively managed critical risks during the ongoing organizational transformation.
Moving forward, his leadership will play a vital role in ensuring stability, execution, and long-term sustainability. He will provide data-driven insights to support enterprise-wide decision-making as the organization moves forward under its evolving ownership framework.
Recently, the Ufone-Telenor merger received final clearance from the Islamabad High Court on June 30, 2026. The integrated company plans to eventually operate under the unified global ‘e&’ brand identity.
Just yesterday, Telenor’s Chief Consumer Business Officer (CCBO), Waqas Aman Ullah, resigned amid the operational takeover. Simultaneously, PTML is formally taking control of Telenor’s iconic ‘345’ headquarters in Islamabad as the complex network and digital migration phases continue.
