Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has approved a performance bonus equal to one month of basic salary for its employees, marking the first major decision by the airlines new private management.
The approval came during the 102nd board of directors meeting held on Friday, the first such meeting since the transition to private management. The board of Pakistan International Airlines Corporation Ltd (PIACL) confirmed the bonus for all airline staff.
A PIA spokesman said in a press release that the decision reflects the new leaderships immediate focus on investing in human capital and aligning the workforce with the airlines broader transformation and growth strategy.
Management said the move is intended to recognise staff dedication while motivating teams ahead of upcoming operational milestones, route revivals, and service improvements.
The chairman of the board said the workforce forms the backbone of PIACLs revival. He added that prioritising employee welfare and motivation from the outset is aimed at building a foundation of excellence, accountability, and commercial viability for the national flag carrier.
The bonus approval is being viewed as an early signal of the new managements direction, with officials pointing toward operational reliability, customer-focused service, and sustainable corporate growth as key priorities going forward.
