The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has begun correcting bills issued to solar consumers that had been generated in violation of their net metering agreements.
Thousands of consumers who had been shifted to net billing have now been moved back to net metering. After reviewing relevant documentation, LESCO corrected the bills of thousands of affected consumers.
The company had signed agreements with these consumers under the net metering policy for electricity generation, but had instead been billing them under a net billing system.
All applications submitted up to February 8 had been contracted under the net metering policy.
Billing had been calculated based on the date each connection was commissioned, rather than in line with the signed net metering contracts, causing heavy losses for consumers.
Following the correction, LESCO has issued bills to affected consumers under the net metering policy.
