Heavy vehicle traffic will be barred from entering Islamabad and Rawalpindi for 24 hours starting midnight on August 13, as authorities tighten security ahead of Independence Day celebrations, the National Highways and Motorway Police announced.
The restriction, which remains in effect until midnight on August 14, forms part of a broader security arrangement for the twin cities during the Independence Day festivities.
Separately, Islamabad Traffic Police has also imposed a wider ban on heavy traffic entering the federal capital from midnight on August 12 until midnight on August 14, alongside major road closures and diversions around Independence Day events.
A Motorway Police spokesperson urged commuters to check traffic conditions and obtain updated route information before travelling by calling the Motorway Police helpline at 130, as authorities work to manage disruptions caused by the citywide security measures.
