The Punjab Home Department has launched a digital inventory system for arms dealers across the province, requiring all dealers to register their current stock and transaction records on the Punjab Arms License Portal by September 6.
More than 350 arms dealers from across Punjab attended a training workshop held to introduce the new online system.
Additional Secretary Judicial Abdul Rauf and Deputy Secretary Judicial Muhammad Murtaza conducted the session, with NADRA officers providing technical guidance on using the portal. Dealers from all Deputy Commissioner offices also joined the workshop through an online link.
Officials explained the procedure for registering data on the portal. At the request of participating dealers, the Home Department extended the registration window by 10 days, setting September 6 as the final deadline for recording existing stock as well as purchase and sale transactions.
Dealers have been directed to complete registration of their current inventory before the deadline. Under the new system, all arms dealers are required to record their full stock along with every purchase and sale on the portal.
This will create a complete digital record of all weapons and ammunition held by each dealer, along with a province-wide database of arms transactions accessible online.
Deputy Commissioners across Punjab will support the registration process by assisting dealers in their respective districts. Arms dealers at the workshop welcomed the initiative and commended the Home Department for organising the training session.
Last week, the Punjab Home Department made it mandatory for all arms dealers across the province to maintain a digital inventory of their stock, with a compliance deadline of August 26, 2026.
Officials cautioned that dealers who fail to update their inventory within the given timeframe could face legal consequences, including suspension of licences, sealing of businesses and financial penalties.
