The University of Sindh, Jamshoro, has distributed scholarships worth Rs. 525.77 million among 1,074 students in what officials described as a record scholarship distribution ceremony.
The scholarship cheques were presented to students at the main auditorium of the Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Convention Centre.
Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah, HEC Sindh Chairman Dr. S.M. Tariq Rafi, and University of Sindh Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Fateh Muhammad Marri distributed the cheques among the selected students.
The scholarships were collected from various government departments and provided to students to help them continue their higher education.
The initiative is aimed at reducing the financial burden on students and enabling deserving candidates to pursue their academic goals without financial constraints.
The distribution of more than Rs. 525 million marks a significant contribution toward supporting students enrolled at the University of Sindh.
Speaking at the ceremony, Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah emphasized the importance of career counselling before university admission.
He noted that many students select academic fields based on family expectations rather than their own interests, abilities, and skills.
According to the minister, effective career guidance can help students make informed decisions about their education and enable universities to admit students into fields that better match their capabilities.
He said aligning students’ interests and skills with their academic fields could ultimately contribute to developing a more capable and productive workforce.
The scholarship distribution ceremony highlighted the importance of financial assistance and proper academic guidance in improving higher education outcomes.
The University of Sindh’s record scholarship distribution is expected to provide financial support to hundreds of students while encouraging them to continue their studies and build careers according to their abilities and interests.
