The privatization process of Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO) has moved to the evaluation and prequalification stage after the government received 11 Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from potential investors.
The Ministry of Privatization announced on Tuesday that the transaction will now undergo a structured evaluation and prequalification process.
Under the next phase, potential investors will be evaluated and prequalified before being granted access to a Virtual Data Room.
Qualified investors will use the facility to conduct detailed due diligence on GEPCO before the process moves toward pre-bid negotiations.
The government will subsequently conduct a competitive bidding process for the transaction.
The Ministry of Privatization said the process would focus on transparency, competition, efficiency, and long-term value creation.
The receipt of 11 EOIs indicates strong investor interest in the proposed privatization of GEPCO and marks a significant step forward in the government’s efforts to reform and privatize power distribution companies.
The development comes as the government continues its broader privatization drive involving state-owned power distribution companies.
