Government schools across the country will introduce a new Google Gemini learning and certification programme for students in Grades 8 to 10, aimed at training them in artificial intelligence (AI) and the practical use of Gemini tools.
According to media reports, the programme will cover artificial intelligence, prompt engineering and hands-on use of Google Gemini. Schools will also set up a Gemini Academy and a Creative Hour to help students build relevant skills.
The curriculum will include lessons on AI safety, ethics and responsible use, ensuring students learn to apply the technology properly and safely. A separate Be Internet Aware programme will be introduced for students in Grades 6 to 8.
School heads have been directed to maintain records of student participation and activities linked to the Gemini programme. Arrangements are also being made for an online certification examination that students will take after completing the course.
As part of the wider digital learning initiative, students will be introduced to Google Workspace tools. Gemini-related activities will be held during school hours, and the class timetable may be adjusted only with the school head’s approval.
The initiative is intended to give government-school students early exposure to artificial intelligence and modern digital tools, while promoting the safe and responsible use of technology.
