MediaTek has introduced another flagship smartphone chipset, the Dimensity 9600M. The new SoC follows the Dimensity 9600 Pro, which was announced earlier this week. Unlike the newer 9600 Pro, the Dimensity 9600M is largely based on existing hardware. It uses the same components as the Dimensity 9500 and is built on TSMC’s 3nm N3P process.
The CPU also remains unchanged. It features one Arm C1-Ultra core reaching 4.21GHz, along with three C1-Premium cores and four C1-Pro cores. The graphics side uses the same Arm Mali-G1 Ultra MC12 GPU. It is paired with MediaTek’s NPU 990, which handles generative AI and agentic AI workloads.

The main difference comes from the software and AI side. MediaTek has added its latest Agentic AI Engine to the Dimensity 9600M. The chip also includes the Dimensity Scheduling Engine. These additions should allow manufacturers to offer newer AI features across a wider range of flagship devices.
The Dimensity 9600M supports LPDDR5X 10667 memory and UFS 4.1 storage. It also supports Wi-Fi 7 with speeds reaching up to 7.3Gbps. For cameras, the chipset can handle sensors up to 320MP. Video support includes 8K60 at 7680 x 4320 and 4K120 with EIS.
The display controller supports WQHD+ panels at 180Hz. It also includes Tri-port MIPI support for tri-fold displays. MediaTek has not yet detailed every difference between the Dimensity 9600M and Dimensity 9500. However, the hardware specifications show that the two chips are closely related.
The first Dimensity 9600M phones are expected to arrive later this quarter. The Vivo X500 and Oppo Find X10 are expected to be among the first devices using the new chipset.
