The All Pakistan Goods Transporters Association has announced a nationwide wheel-jam strike from October 10 if the government fails to address its demands.
The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by Association President Nabeel Mahmood Tariq. Other senior office-bearers also attended the meeting and discussed relief measures for the transport sector.
The transporters demanded the immediate release of containers seized during protests and sit-ins, along with compensation of Rs20,000 and Rs35,000. They also called for an end to stopping vehicles and imposing fines over sales tax invoices.
The association further demanded a reduction in diesel prices, saying commitments made by the federal and provincial governments during the previous strike had not been fulfilled.
The transporters warned that failure to provide relief would result in a complete shutdown of goods transportation across the country from October 10.
