The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has exempted Pakistani students from passing the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) before enrolling in medical and dental colleges abroad.
The council has issued a formal public notice confirming the decision.
Under the new policy, students seeking admission to foreign medical and dental institutions are no longer required to qualify the MDCAT. Previously, the test was a prerequisite for Pakistani applicants pursuing medical education overseas.
The PMDC said the decision was taken at a council meeting held on September 14.
The exemption applies only to admissions in foreign institutions. The MDCAT remains the entry test for admission to medical and dental colleges within Pakistan.
