Pakistan received $1.65 billion in workers’ remittances from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in September 2026, accounting for around 46% of the country’s total inflows, according to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
Overall, Pakistan received $3.6 billion in remittances during September, marking a 1.9% decline from August but a 13% increase compared with the same month last year.
Saudi Arabia remained the largest source of remittances, contributing $899.1 million in September, up 2.9% from $873.5 million in August and 19.7% from $751 million a year earlier.
The UAE ranked second with $748.5 million, slightly below the $749.8 million recorded in August. Dubai accounted for $617.5 million of the UAE’s total, while Abu Dhabi contributed $104.5 million.
The United Kingdom contributed $515.1 million, down 8.6% month-on-month but up 13.3% year-on-year. Meanwhile, inflows from the United States reached $305.9 million, while remittances from the European Union totalled $447.7 million.
Among European countries, Italy led with $133.5 million, followed by Spain at $84.2 million and Germany at $68.5 million.
Other notable contributions included $114.9 million from Oman, $99.5 million from Qatar, $77.6 million from Kuwait, and $50.1 million from Bahrain.
The latest figures highlight the continued importance of overseas Pakistanis’ remittances in supporting foreign exchange inflows and the country’s external financial position.
