The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has asked Punjab Police to depute 300 officers and personnel, as it moves to address a shortage of staff.
Director General NCCIA approved the request and wrote to the Inspector General of Punjab Police, seeking 30 DSPs, 30 inspectors, 115 sub-inspectors, 25 assistant sub-inspectors (ASIs), and 100 head constables and constables.
The agency has so far received a list of 107 officers and personnel along with their names. It has asked Punjab Police to send the remaining 193 at the earliest.
Under the letter, both male and female personnel can be posted on deputation. Candidates must be below 48 years of age, physically fit, and hold at least a BA or ICS qualification.
Applicants must also have a clean reputation and an A-grade service record. Personnel with a serious conviction, or those facing an ongoing inquiry, will not be eligible.
Earlier this month, the NCCIA also asked the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government for 200 police officers on deputation, including 20 DSPs. The agency wrote to the KP chief secretary and the inspector general of police on September 18, seeking 147 officers, and sent a second letter on October 2 requesting 53 more.
Additional Director NCCIA Nisar Ahmad Khan confirmed the letters. The agency has stepped up action against online fraud and blackmail gangs, and thousands of public complaints are under investigation.
