The Sindh cabinet has lowered the passing mark for the Sindh Public Service Commission’s (SPSC) Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) screening test from 40 per cent to 33pc, widening the pool of candidates eligible for the written exam.
At its Tuesday meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, the cabinet also raised the upper age limit for CCE candidates from 30 to 33 years and increased the number of permitted attempts from three to five.
Computer-based testing will be introduced for one-paper examinations, with results printed immediately after each test. Interview marks will be revised in line with the ratio followed by the Federal Public Service Commission.
The cabinet will constitute a Cabinet Reforms Committee to develop information technology-enabled and artificial intelligence-based reforms for the SPSC. The package also includes safeguards against retaliatory action toward candidates who took part in recent protests, along with a mechanism to review allegations of candidates being targeted during interviews.
A press statement said the decisions aim to expand opportunities for candidates and restore confidence in the recruitment process. The measures follow candidates’ protests over recruitment procedures and examination arrangements.
