The Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP) 2024-25 audit report has identified alleged financial irregularities of more than Rs920 million in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Education Department.
According to sources, Rs374.3 million of the total relates to alleged irregularities in teacher recruitment, the supply of tablets and other departmental matters.
The report also records the poor condition of government school buildings across the province, from Bannu to Haripur. Funds meant for repair and rehabilitation were allegedly misused.
In Dera Ismail Khan, Charsadda and Buner, several classrooms have been declared unfit for use, putting the education of thousands of children at risk.
The irregularities were reported during the tenure of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) provincial government, which has been in power in KP for 13 years and has repeatedly said it is committed to eliminating corruption.
