The Punjab government is considering recruiting 1,600 headmasters for government schools at a proposed monthly salary of Rs. 150,000 to address vacant leadership positions across the province.
Under the proposed plan, candidates will take a written examination conducted by the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC), followed by interviews. Successful candidates will initially be appointed on two-year contracts, which may be extended based on their performance.
According to sources, more than 2,000 government schools across Punjab currently have vacant headship positions. The proposed recruitment drive aims to fill 1,600 of these vacancies. However, the recruitment plan, salary structure, and contract terms are still under consideration and will require formal approval from the relevant cabinet committee before the hiring process begins.
