The Margalla Avenue Extension project in Islamabad is expected to be completed within the next few weeks, ahead of its official April deadline, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has announced.
Naqvi shared the update during a late-night inspection of the project near Sangjani on Thursday. He said the new interchange would improve traffic flow and provide easier access for commuters travelling from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Islamabad, as well as passengers heading to Islamabad International Airport.
The project involves construction work on the proposed interchange bridge, including piling, foundation excavation, and retaining and abutment walls. Teams are also carrying out earthwork, preparing the road sub-base, relocating utility lines, and clearing construction sites affected by land-related and technical issues.
The CDA chairman, Islamabad Inspector General of Police, and senior technical officials accompanied the minister during the visit. The project aims to improve connectivity between Islamabad and the motorway network while making travel more convenient for commuters.
