Air passengers across Pakistan are likely to face a sharp increase in ticket prices as jet fuel rates rise significantly. With fuel now priced at Rs 417 per liter, airlines have started adding higher surcharges, making both domestic and international travel more expensive.
While base ticket prices have largely remained unchanged, airlines have adjusted fuel surcharges to manage rising operational costs. As a result, one-way fares from Karachi to Islamabad and Lahore have climbed to around Rs40,000, with last-minute or “chance” seats seeing increases of up to 150%.
The national carrier has raised fares on multiple routes, adding between $10 and $100 in fuel charges depending on the destination. Domestic passengers are now paying an additional $10, while those travelling to Canada are being charged up to $100 extra.
Flights to the UK and the Middle East have also seen added surcharges of $75 and $50 respectively. Private airlines have gone further, imposing increases ranging from $15 to $150 across different routes.
