Alibaba Unveils $660 AI Glasses and ChatGPT-Like Assistant
Alibaba Group has stepped deeper into the world of consumer artificial intelligence. The tech giant announced a new pair of smart AI glasses and a ChatGPT-style assistant built into its Quark app. This signals Alibaba Group’s growing ambition in AI hardware and software for everyday users.
Quark AI Glasses: Smart, Sleek, and Practical
The newly launched Quark AI Glasses are powered by Alibaba’s in-house large language model, Qwen. They also come integrated with the Quark AI Assistant.

Pre-sales begin on October 24 through Alibaba’s Tmall platform, with shipping starting in December 2025. The glasses are priced at 4,699 yuan (around $659), but early buyers can grab them for a discounted 3,999 yuan during pre-sale.
These AI-powered glasses can handle hands-free calls, music playback, and real-time translation. The design aims to bring artificial intelligence seamlessly into daily life, bridging functionality with smart convenience.
Alongside the glasses, Alibaba also introduced the Quark AI Chat Assistant, a new mode in its popular Quark app. The assistant allows users to ask questions, chat by text or voice, edit photos, and even solve visual problems.
According to the company, the goal is to make search and chat work together, enabling users to complete multiple tasks within a single app.
Alibaba Competing with Global Tech Giants
The move positions Alibaba directly against Meta, which recently launched AI-powered smart glasses, and Chinese rival Xiaomi, which has been expanding its AI device lineup. Unlike previous business-focused AI initiatives, this launch highlights Alibaba’s shift toward consumer-facing AI technology.
By merging smart hardware and conversational software, Alibaba is clearly signalling its intent to dominate the consumer AI space. The combination of Quark’s software and wearable tech could give the company a unique edge in a rapidly evolving global market.
