Lahore: In a major step towards strengthening Pakistan’s digital economy, Huawei Technologies has successfully trained more than 20,000 Pakistani youth in cutting-edge fields such as artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, and cloud computing. This initiative stems from a long-term relationship between the Pakistani government and Huawei aimed at training qualified individuals for the ICT sector. The developed training program makes use of a last-year negotiated agreement to provide 300,000 Pakistani students and professionals, as well as trainers with worldwide ICT experience. This effort allows Pakistan to improve its developing IT sector while also accelerating its economic development. Huawei’s Role in Pakistan’s ICT Growth According to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s office, 20,315 students have already completed their training, gaining hands-on experience in AI, cybersecurity, and cloud computing. The initiative prepares master trainers to disseminate information to basic demographic groups. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with a Huawei delegation in Lahore to emphasize the importance of expediting IT training programs for the country. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif issued orders to expand the program nationwide to include students in Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and other provinces. ICT serves as an important tool for driving national economic progress, hence Pakistan aggressively seeks Chinese and Gulf countries investments as part of its strategic development plan. Digital technologies are at the heart of Pakistan's financial stability strategy, as the government recognizes their dual capability to provide job opportunities and improve international market performance. This year, the Ministry of Information Technology collaborated with Huawei to launch an online learning platform that offers students free ICT instruction. The platform aims to teach digital skills, allowing thousands of Pakistani youth to enter the global technology business. The growth of this training program, which has already trained 20,000 people, will provide new learning opportunities for both students and professionals. The authorities are focusing on extending outreach programs as well as increasing access to advanced ICT education.
