Another Team Raises Concerns Over T20 World Cup 2026 Schedule

Nepal head coach Stuart Law has expressed his disappointment that all matches of the Nepal team in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026 are being played in India.

Law said he would have preferred playing in Sri Lanka, where turning pitches would better suit his team’s spin resources and allow them to utilise their skillset more effectively.

He stressed that his remarks were not intended as criticism of India, but reflected his belief that consistent turn throughout matches would enhance Nepal’s tactical strengths.

Despite his reservations, Law praised the experience of playing at the Wankhede Stadium, calling it one of the most iconic venues in world cricket and highlighting reduced travel demands.

“No disrespect to India, but I wish we were in Sri Lanka with the wicket turning the way it is,” Stuart Law said.

Referring to the R Premadasa Stadium, he said a bigger outfield would allow his players to maximise speed between the wickets and deploy spin bowlers more effectively.

He contrasted those dimensions with conditions in Mumbai, where he said the boundary measures around 70 metres, leaving little margin for error if bowlers miss their lengths.

It is worth noting that this is not the first time a participant team has questioned the schedule of the ongoing tournament, as Namibia last week also raised concerns over the fixtures.

Namibia captain Gerhard Erasmus criticized the International Cricket Council (ICC) for not providing his team a night training session before their evening match against India.
