Apple first rolled out satellite connectivity with the iPhone 14 lineup in September 2022, offering it free for two years. The company later tacked on an extra year in November 2023. Now, with the launch of the iPhone 17 series, Apple is once again extending the free trial for older devices.
In a footnote attached to its newsroom posts, Apple confirmed that iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 owners will receive another year of free access. The extension applies to users who activated their device in a market where satellite features are supported before September 9, 2025.
According to the source, this update effectively gives early adopters of the iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 satellite feature uninterrupted access until mid-September 2026.
The satellite tool, available on iPhone 14 and newer models, lets users stay connected when cellular and Wi-Fi networks are unavailable. It enables them to text emergency services, request roadside assistance, share their location, and even send short updates to family and friends while completely off the grid.
