Apple Intelligence Is About to Rewrite Siri’s Future, But Not in the Way You’d Expect

Apple Intelligence is positioned to reshape Siri in unexpected ways as Apple prepares to roll out a revamped version of its voice assistant early next year, according to MacRumors. The upgrade will be supported by new hardware and behind-the-scenes AI improvements that reflect Apple’s broader push into advanced artificial intelligence.

Apple is reportedly targeting March for the release of its updated Siri experience, which will debut alongside a new smart home display featuring both speaker-base and wall-mount options. The company is also preparing a new Apple TV and refreshed HomePod mini that will help highlight next year’s Apple Intelligence features and Siri capabilities.

The revamped Siri will rely on a customized Gemini model from Google, enabling the assistant to deliver more advanced AI tasks, including an AI-powered web search feature. Analysts caution, however, that there is no guarantee users will immediately embrace the upgrade or that it will fully repair long-standing concerns about Siri’s performance.

Siri to Use Gemini Behind the Scenes

Although Apple is paying Google to develop a Gemini-based model for use on its Private Cloud Compute servers, Apple Intelligence will not import Google services into Siri. Instead, the Gemini model will function quietly in the background to power the assistant while maintaining Apple’s own user interface and experience.

Apple is preparing to preview iOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27 and additional operating systems at its Worldwide Developers Conference in June. The focus will largely be on deep enhancements to Apple Intelligence and the company’s long-term AI ambitions across its ecosystem.

Despite forming partnerships with local firms, Apple continues to face regulatory hurdles related to launching Apple Intelligence in China. The rollout timeline has now become a moving target as these challenges persist and Apple works to bring its AI features into compliance with global requirements.
