Apples Foldable Iphone Hinge Could Feature Liquid Metal For Added Strength

Rumors about Apple’s foldable iPhone hinge have been circulating for years, and the latest update sheds light on a possible game-changing design choice. According to a Weibo source with a strong track record, Apple is developing a hinge made from liquid metal, a material known for its exceptional strength and durability.

This isn’t the first time such reports have surfaced. Well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo previously suggested that Apple’s iPhone Fold hinge could leverage liquid metal for improved rigidity. The material, sometimes referred to as an amorphous alloy or metallic glass, is said to be 2.5 times stronger than titanium. If true, this could significantly enhance the durability of Apple’s foldable phone.

A hinge built from amorphous alloys would make the iPhone Fold more resistant to bending, pressure, and deformation, extending the device’s longevity. Additionally, it might help minimize or eliminate the notorious display crease seen on other foldable devices. Since flexible OLED panels require robust support, this innovation could ensure a smoother, more reliable folding experience.

Apple is reportedly working closely with hardware suppliers to refine both the hinge mechanism and the foldable display technology. While there’s no official confirmation, these reports suggest that Apple is focused on delivering a highly durable foldable iPhone with cutting-edge materials.
