Embark Studios has officially released Update 1.4.0 for ARC Raiders. The patch is now live across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. While the update file size is small, the changes are massive for gameplay integrity. The developers have finally addressed the community’s biggest complaints:
For weeks, legitimate players have voiced frustration over the “locked door exploit“. Cheaters were phasing through doors without keys by having teammates ram into them. Consequently, they looted high-value gear before honest players could even unlock the rooms.
However, Embark Studios has deployed a very hot fix, according to the official patch notes released yesterday. The developer has added “exploit mitigation mechanisms” to all locked rooms on every map.
Reports confirm that this mitigation is lethal. While players can still technically glitch into the room, they now face immediate consequences. The room reportedly fills with flames, resulting in a prompt death for the exploiter. This change ensures that Topside loot remains secure for players who actually possess the keys.
The update also targets a game-breaking weapon glitch. Previously, players could bypass the reload animation on the Il Toro shotgun. By swapping to a Quick Use item, a Bandage or Shield Recharger, and immediately switching back, players achieved an unintended rapid-fire rate.
This exploit turned the Il Toro into a PvP nightmare. Thankfully, Update 1.4.0 has patched this specific gun exploit. The weapon now functions as intended, levelling the playing field for all Raiders.
Beyond the exploits, Embark has refined the general user experience. Notably, they have blocked off the exterior access to the Spaceport’s Control Tower locked room.
The team also pushed several quality-of-life fixes:
These fixes come at a crucial time. ARC Raiders has taken the industry by surprise, achieving over 481,000 concurrent players on Steam alone. This is a monumental feat, considering the ex-DICE developers launched the title sandwiched between heavy hitters like Battlefield 6 and Black Ops 7.
To apply the update, Embark Studios advises all players to restart their clients immediately.
