Published by

Experienced Pakistani batter Babar Azam is on the verge of a major milestone, needing just 32 runs against Namibia to become Pakistan’s leading run-scorer in T20 World Cups.

The right-handed batter has scored 615 runs in 20 innings at an average of 34.16 and a strike rate of 111.18, trailing former Pakistani captain Shoaib Malik’s record of 646 runs.

Shoaib Malik compiled 646 runs in 31 innings at an average of 34.00 and a strike rate of 123.28, holding the current record as Pakistan’s leading run-scorer in T20 World Cups.

Pakistan will meet Namibia in their final group-stage match at the Sinhalese Sports Club Cricket Ground in Colombo, with qualification to the Super Eight stage depending entirely on the match result.

The Men in Green are third in the group standings with two wins, trailing the United States, who occupy second place due to a superior net run rate, keeping Pakistan’s tournament hopes alive.

A win is required for Pakistan to advance outright, but if rain washes out the match, they would earn a point, moving to five points above the United States’ four points.
