Balochistan Launches New People’s Train Between Quetta and Kuchlak

Published by

Balochistan has announced the launch of the People’s Train Service between Quetta and Kuchlak, with Rs. 1.4 billion allocated for the project. Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti confirmed the initiative during a meeting with Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi, emphasizing this as a historic step under Pakistan Railways’ provincial cooperation framework.

The project marks the first time a province has proactively invested in local railway development under Pakistan’s devolution framework. The initiative aims to improve connectivity within Balochistan and can potentially extend to Mastung, Pishin, and other areas if successful.

Federal Minister Hanif Abbasi praised Balochistan for leading the way, noting that other provinces have also shown interest in developing local railway services. The government plans to construct new railway stations and upgrade existing infrastructure, creating more convenient and reliable travel for residents.

Chief Minister Bugti stated, “The Balochistan government is committed to enhancing provincial connectivity, and the People’s Train Service is the first of many projects to come.”
Abbasi added, “This cooperation between the federation and Balochistan sets a new precedent for provincial railway initiatives.”

The People’s Train Service is expected to enhance daily travel, boost local commerce, and provide a reliable public transport option. Officials believe that if the Quetta-Kuchlak route proves successful, the service could expand to other key districts in Balochistan.
