All branches of commercial banks across Pakistan will observe extended working hours until 10:00 PM on September 30, 2026, to facilitate taxpayers in making over-the-counter payments of government duties and taxes.
According to a notification issued on September 29, the decision was taken following a request from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to facilitate taxpayers ahead of the government’s tax collection deadline.
Banks have also been directed to keep their relevant branches open on September 30 for as long as required to facilitate special clearing of government transactions conducted by NIFT.
In addition, banks will ensure uninterrupted availability of their online payment channels, including internet banking, mobile applications, ATMs, and other digital platforms, to allow taxpayers to pay government duties and taxes electronically.
The extended banking hours and digital payment arrangements are aimed at providing taxpayers with additional options to complete their government tax and duty payments on time.
