Battlefield 6 Season 1 launch has started on a sour note as players flood forums and social media to criticise its new map, Blackwell Fields.
The California-based map, drenched in an orange haze and scattered with oil pumpjacks, has become a flashpoint for the community. Many describe it as “hands down the worst map in the game”. Players say it lacks cover, balance, and tactical depth, leaving infantry and vehicles exposed from every angle.
One frustrated player said they “spawn on this map and instantly have direct vision of enemies capturing points”. Another added, “The massive open areas make it a sniper haven”.
Blackwell Fields’ open terrain and poor visibility have turned the map into what players call a sniper’s paradise. Even in Conquest mode, users report being killed from as far as enemy HQ spawn points.
Air pilots face similar issues. Jets can reportedly be locked onto before takeoff, rendering helicopters and aircraft nearly useless.
You can be spawn killed by AA from their HQ 🙂

Popular creator @BattleNonSense criticised the map on X, calling it:
Players also joke online about the orange-tinted visuals, saying visibility is “a disaster” regardless of settings. Even smaller modes like Breakthrough suffer from the same issues.
EA and Battlefield Studios haven’t confirmed any changes yet, but they’ve been quick to respond to fan feedback in the past. A new, less orange map, Eastwood, will arrive on November 18.
Since its release on October 10, 2025, Battlefield 6 has received multiple tweaks, including reverted Conquest ticket sizes and skin adjustments. Meanwhile, the newly launched Battlefield REDSEC battle royale mode faces its own criticism over its battle pass and queue system.
As for Blackwell Fields, players hope future patches will finally bring some tactical balance… or at least, some cover.
