Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), Senator Rubina Khalid, visited BISP offices in Haripur and Abbottabad on Saturday, where she met women beneficiaries and provided detailed guidance on the government’s newly introduced Digital Wallet System.
During the visit, Senator Rubina Khalid listened to beneficiaries’ concerns and directed BISP officials to resolve their issues on a priority basis. Member of the Provincial Assembly Meher Sultana Advocate and other women leaders accompanied the chairperson during the visit.
Addressing the beneficiaries, the BISP chairperson explained that financial assistance will now be transferred directly into beneficiaries’ digital wallets. Beneficiaries will receive an SMS notification once funds are deposited, allowing them to withdraw the money at their convenience from any authorized retailer.
She added that an SMS confirmation will also be sent after every withdrawal, providing complete transaction details to improve transparency and reduce payment-related complaints.
Senator Rubina Khalid urged beneficiaries to collect the free Benazir SIM only from official BISP offices. She advised women to bring their original Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) and personal mobile phone while obtaining the SIM.
She also warned beneficiaries not to hand over their mobile phones to agents or retailers during the payment process to protect their personal information and financial security.
The chairperson said the new interoperability system will enable beneficiaries to withdraw their financial assistance from any authorized retailer of participating partner banks, regardless of their location in Pakistan.
During her visit to Abbottabad, she advised women to keep their SIM cards secure, reject any unauthorized deductions from their payments, and immediately report such incidents through BISP offices or the programme’s complaint management system for prompt action.
Concluding the visit, Senator Rubina Khalid instructed BISP officials to ensure women beneficiaries receive the best possible guidance and support so they can access their financial assistance without difficulty.
