Bitcoin traded near $82,500 on Friday as cryptocurrency markets attempted to recover from Thursday’s decline amid reports of funds being stolen from Ledger hardware wallet users. BTC rebounded from a local low of $80,350 and briefly reclaimed $83,000 as buyers returned to the market.
Despite the security concerns, crypto markets avoided significant selling pressure. Data from CoinGlass showed that 24-hour cryptocurrency liquidations exceeded $1 billion, while exchange order-book liquidity indicated increased selling interest around the $84,000 level.

Ledger acknowledged the reports of stolen funds and linked the claims to CryptoBillis, a reseller based in Southeast Asia. The company advised users to consider moving their assets to a new Ledger signer with a newly generated recovery seed. The reports have renewed scrutiny of hardware wallet security following previous incidents involving other manufacturers.
Bitcoin traders are now monitoring the weekly candle close, with $82,500 remaining a key price level. Market analysts are also watching the $81,300–$86,500 trading range, with repeated tests of $84,000 expected ahead of the release of US inflation data on October 14. The upcoming economic figures could influence market sentiment and trigger further volatility in Bitcoin prices.
