Bluesky Rolls Out Followers Only Replies And Post Search Feature In Latest Update

Social networking startup Bluesky, a growing competitor to X (formerly Twitter), has introduced a new update that enhances user experience with a “followers only” option to restrict replies and a post search function for user profiles.

The new “followers only” reply mechanism enables users to limit their message responses to a trusted audience, thereby preventing undesired replies during viral content occurrences. Users can now limit the number of replies to their posts to only their trusted followers, which aids in the prevention of the X content collapse issue, in which unknown users left irrelevant negative comments.

Users of X have the ability to govern replies through four distinct control options, including “Everyone,” “Accounts you follow,” “Verified accounts,” and “Only accounts you mention.” Threads users have three reply access options: “Anyone,” “Profiles you follow,” and “Mentioned only.” Bluesky now allows users to more directly manage their communications, which sets it apart from its competitors.

Users can apply this functionality to future postings by navigating to Settings > Moderation > Interaction Settings within the app.

Users are now able to search through the posts of their contacts using the profile search function, which simplifies the process of locating content.  These new features are accessible to users through the most recent version of Bluesky, 1.98. The transmission of user replies from users with obsolete applications continues; however, the posts are rendered invisible to authors who have activated the “followers only” setting.

In an effort to optimise platform operation, the most recent iteration includes search optimisation and minor problem fixes. As Bluesky continues to enhance its features, it strengthens its position as a strong competitor in the evolving social media landscape.
