Bullet Proof Vehicles Grant Approved By Economic Coordination Committee

The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) on Tuesday approved a Technical Supplementary Grant of  Rs. 2.11 billion for the procurement of bulletproof vehicles, citing operational and security requirements.

The meeting was held at the Finance Division in Islamabad under the chairmanship of Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb. It was attended by senior federal ministers, advisers, secretaries, and top officials from relevant ministries and regulatory bodies.

After reviewing agenda items, the ECC approved the Defence Division’s request for funds to procure bulletproof vehicles, noting that the decision was driven by pressing security needs and operational imperatives.

A senior official remarked, “The approval reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and operational readiness of key state functionaries.”

The ECC also approved a summary from the Cabinet Division for the award of reward money to the Pakistan Under-19 Men’s Cricket Team. The finance minister noted that recognizing young athletes not only honors their achievement but also motivates emerging talent to represent Pakistan with pride on global platforms.

At the outset, the committee offered Fateha for former finance minister and ex-SBP governor Dr. Shamshad Akhtar. Senator Aurangzeb paid tribute to her lasting contributions, stating that several institutional and tax reforms implemented later were first conceptualized during her tenure, and that her vision continues to influence economic governance.

Technical Supplementary Grants are typically approved to meet urgent or unforeseen requirements not covered in the original budget. The latest approvals highlight the government’s dual focus on national security needs and encouraging excellence in sports, alongside continuity in economic policy direction.
