Buscaro Raises $2M to Expand Tech-Enabled Commuting Across Pakistan

Buscaro has secured $2 million in new funding to scale its safe and tech-enabled commuting services across Pakistan’s major cities. The investment round was led by Daman Investments with participation from Cartography Capital, Epic Angels, Wahed Ventures, Accelerate Prosperity, and angel investors, bringing Buscaro’s total funding to $3.5 million.

The company, which now powers over 900,000 monthly bookings, is on track to close 2025 with $8.6 million in annualized revenue. Buscaro partners with companies, schools, and institutions to provide structured daily transport for employees and students, offering an alternative to overcrowded buses, unsafe rickshaws, and costly ride-hailing apps.

At the core of Buscaro’s model is a four-part technology stack: live ride tracking for passengers and parents, financial transparency for businesses, operational visibility for administrators, and safety-focused systems. With more than 80 corporate partners in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, and Rawalpindi, the company boasts a client retention rate of over 97%.

Founder and CEO Maha Shahzad began the journey with a single bus from her living room in 2022. When global competitor Swvl exited Pakistan, she recognized the gap and stepped in.

“We built Buscaro to be a safe, affordable, and structured solution for daily commuters,” Shahzad said.

Since then, the platform has grown revenues from $2 million in 2023 to more than $6.3 million today.

The funding comes at a time when Pakistan’s urban transport sector faces outdated regulations, high fuel costs, and a fragmented vendor market. According to Ahmed Khizer Khan, CEO of Daman Investments, “By making commuting safe and technology-driven, Buscaro is redefining daily mobility in Pakistan. We’re excited to support their growth into new cities and beyond.”

Looking ahead, Buscaro plans to expand into tier-2 cities and collaborate with government agencies to modernize public transport networks with its technology. International expansion is also being explored.

“Our vision is to make commuting safe, reliable, and affordable for families and companies across Pakistan and abroad,” Shahzad concluded.

Government officials and industry veterans have endorsed the initiative. Punjab Finance Minister Bilal Azhar Kayani highlighted his role in empowering women through safer public transport. Former Careem MD Junaid Iqbal emphasized that “urban mobility is broken,” praising Buscaro’s B2B approach as a practical solution for Pakistan’s $5 billion fuel import challenge.
