BYD Begins NEV Deliveries in Pakistan with MMC Partnership

BYD, the world’s leading manufacturer of New Energy Vehicles (NEVs), has begun delivering its cars in Pakistan through its local partner, Mega Motor Company (MMC), a subsidiary of Hub Power Company (HUBCO). This move represents a significant step in advancing the country’s sustainable transport initiatives.
Residents of Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad are the first to receive BYD vehicles, with up to 100 deliveries anticipated within the first two days. To enhance customer experience, Mega Motor has introduced BYD Experience & Care centres in these cities, offering access to the latest NEV technology along with comprehensive after-sales services.
The launch of BYD’s SEAL and ATTO 3 models reflects growing confidence in Pakistan’s emerging electric vehicle market. With the demand for hybrid and electric vehicles on the rise, BYD and MMC have plans to establish 15 additional centres across the country by the end of 2025.
Pakistan, the world’s fifth most populous nation, has seen an increasing presence of Chinese automakers such as Great Wall Motor, Saic Motor, and Chongqing Changan Automobile, competing alongside established Japanese brands like Toyota and Honda. However, electric vehicle sales still represent a modest portion of the market.
Expressing enthusiasm about the launch, Lei Jian, Country Head of BYD Pakistan, remarked, “It is an honour to embark on this crucial development chapter in Pakistan. BYD has long been dedicated to fulfilling people’s aspirations for a better life through technological innovation. We firmly believe that BYD’s new energy vehicles and technologies are destined to make even greater contributions to Pakistan’s green development journey.”
Danish Khaliq, VP Sales & Strategy of Mega Motor Company, shared similar sentiments, stating, “We are thrilled to begin vehicle deliveries across Pakistan. This marks the beginning of an exciting journey for BYD and our customers, as we introduce world-class NEV technology to drive Pakistan toward a cleaner and more sustainable future.”
In a recent development, BYD successfully delivered its first shipment of electric vehicles (EVs) to Pakistan, processed by the Karachi Port Trust (KPT) at the Karachi International Container Terminal (KICT).
BYD officially entered the Pakistani market in August 2024 with a launch event at Lahore’s Expo Centre, which was attended by Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb. The minister hailed the entry of BYD as a significant milestone in promoting eco-friendly transportation in the country.
In October 2024, Mega Motor Company (Pvt) Ltd entered into a partnership with BYD Auto Industry Company Ltd to manufacture, market, and distribute BYD vehicles in Pakistan. This agreement includes technical licensing, paving the way for greater investment in Pakistan’s electric vehicle industry.
Founded in 1994, BYD has established itself as a global leader in electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, known for its innovative approach to sustainable mobility. The introduction of its NEVs in Pakistan is set to play a pivotal role in transforming the country’s automotive landscape.
