Authorities in Islamabad have decided to shift the registration process for ride-hailing drivers, including those working with Bykea, to the Islamabad Police Taxi Verification App in an effort to improve passenger safety and strengthen driver verification.
According to the district administration, the registration system for Bykea riders and taxi drivers will no longer operate through the previous district administration platform. Instead, all registrations will now be completed through the Islamabad Police Taxi Verification App developed by Islamabad Police.
Under the new mechanism, drivers will upload their personal and vehicle information directly through the application. Once verified, they will receive a unique QR code that must be displayed during rides. Passengers will be able to scan this QR code to instantly confirm the driver’s identity and registration details before starting their journey.
Officials said the app will also require drivers to properly record ride and travel information, helping authorities maintain accurate records and monitor transport services in the federal capital.
The taxi verification application is available on the Google Play Store, allowing drivers to easily download and register themselves in the system. Authorities believe the initiative will significantly improve passenger security by enabling real-time driver verification.
The Deputy Commissioner’s office stated that the move is aimed at making travel in Islamabad safer and more transparent. Citizens have also been advised not to use unregistered taxis or Bykea services and to ensure that drivers are verified through the official application before beginning any trip.
