CCTV Cameras to Monitor Exam Halls in Punjab
In a strong move to ensure transparency, Commissioner Rawalpindi Aamir Khattak, after assuming acting charge as Chairman BISE Rawalpindi, has ordered complete CCTV surveillance and biometric attendance systems at all marking examination centres, along with strict action against exam irregularities.
The post of BISE Rawalpindi chairman has remained vacant since October 17, following the completion of former chairman Mohammad Adnan Khan’s term. During this interim period, concerns over exam transparency and discipline prompted the Punjab government to place additional oversight on board operations.
Soon after taking charge, Khattak chaired a high level meeting of board officials and announced a zero-tolerance policy against negligence, paper leaks, favouritism, and other examination malpractices. He directed that all pending disciplinary cases be resolved within one week and ordered the establishment of a dedicated examination control room for real-time monitoring.
“Transparency and discipline in the examination process will not be compromised,” Khattak stated, emphasizing that sensitive centres must remain under constant surveillance.
Officials briefed the commissioner on arrangements for the 2026 SSC-I and HSSC-I annual examinations, revealing that 243,064 candidates are expected for SSC-I, while 157,856 candidates will appear in HSSC-I. Additional steps include monitoring systems for practical labs and marking centres, pre-exam training for supervisory staff, an online bill system for exam personnel, and strict action against examiners if marking errors are proven.
The meeting was attended by senior board and district officials at the Commissioner’s Office in Rawalpindi.
