Capital Development Authority (CDA) employees have announced protest today over the non-payment of their Eid allowance, which was approved but has not yet been released. The CDA Workers Union says this allowance has been a guaranteed right since 2006, and withholding it has left staff frustrated. The demonstration will take place in front of the CDA Chairman’s office in Islamabad.
The CDA Workers Union has scheduled a protest today at 10:00 AM outside the CDA Chairman’s office in Islamabad, with many employees and union representatives expected to join. They have urged the government and authorities to release the Eid allowance without delay.
Union General Secretary Chaudhry Muhammad Yaseen criticized the decision, describing it as a violation of both the agreement and the law. The union warns that such delays affect the festive celebrations of thousands of employees and can strain industrial peace.
The Eid allowance has been a part of employee benefits in the CDA for nearly two decades. According to the CDA Workers Union, the benefit was formalized in 2006 following demands from the employees and approved by the CDA Board. Since then, it has been given to all employees on the occasion of religious festivals.
This year, while the allowance had been approved again and an official notification issued, its implementation was suddenly halted.
So far, no official statement has been issued by the CDA administration regarding the sudden halt in payment.
