CDA Launches Another Underpass Project in Islamabad

Published by

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has commenced construction of a new underpass on Park Road near Margalla Enclave, aimed at easing traffic congestion in one of Islamabad’s busy corridors.

Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has issued a detailed traffic plan to minimize disruption during the construction period. Authorities have asked commuters to follow the prescribed diversions to ensure smooth traffic flow.

Traffic Diversion Details

For traffic moving from Rawal Dam Chowk to Tramri, vehicles will be rerouted via NIH Road and Mohra Noor before merging back onto Park Road.

From Tramri to Rawal Dam Chowk, the diversion will start near Chai Khana, with vehicles guided through CDA Nursery, the iron grill section, and two temporary roads to rejoin Park Road.

Motorists are also encouraged to consider alternate routes, including Lehtrar Road, Khanna Pul, and the Islamabad Expressway, to avoid peak-hour congestion.

ITP warned that ongoing construction could increase traffic pressure on Park Road, particularly during rush hours, and advised commuters to add 20 to 30 minutes to their travel time. Traffic personnel will remain stationed in the area to assist commuters and manage vehicle flow.

For real-time updates, citizens can contact the traffic helpline at 1915 or the emergency helpline Pucar-15. The new underpass is part of CDA’s broader initiative to improve road infrastructure in the city, aiming to reduce bottlenecks and improve connectivity for daily commuters.
