Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Mohammad Ali Randhawa has directed officials to fast-track all major development projects ahead of the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit and other international events in Islamabad.
Presiding over a high-level meeting, Randhawa was joined by Member Administration Talat Mahmood, Member Finance Tahir Naeem, Member Engineering Syed Nafasat Raza, Member Planning and Design Dr Khalid Hafiz, Member Environment Esfandyar Baloch, and other senior officials.
According to a CDA statement, the meeting focused on reviewing progress on several mega projects aimed at improving infrastructure and facilities for the SCO summit. Officials briefed the chairman that the request for proposal (RFP) process for multiple projects was nearing completion.
In the first phase, CDA plans to engage both international and national consultants for the projects. Work is already in progress on the PC-1 and PC-2 documents, along with the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) reports for each development.
Randhawa stressed that these initiatives are part of a broader effort to transform Islamabad into a modern, world-class city. He urged the departments to complete the projects before the SCO summit and ensure transparency in every stage of the process.
He further instructed officials to accelerate PC-1 approvals and tendering procedures to allow formal project launches next year. Randhawa noted that the timely completion of these projects would strengthen Islamabad’s role as a center for international conferences, tourism, and diplomatic activities.
