China condemns Indian strikes on Pakistan, Urges Restraint as Pakistan’s response looms

In response to India’s recent missile strikes on Pakistani territory, China has expressed deep concern and called for restraint from both nations.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry labelled India’s military actions as “regrettable” and emphasised the importance of maintaining regional peace and stability.

“China finds India’s military operation early this morning regrettable. We are concerned about the ongoing situation,” stated a spokesperson from the Chinese Foreign Ministry. “India and Pakistan are and will always be each other’s neighbours. They are also China’s neighbours.”

The spokesperson further added, “China opposes all forms of terrorism. We urge both sides to act in the larger interest of peace and stability, remain calm, exercise restraint, and refrain from taking actions that may further complicate the situation.”

China’s remarks come after India launched “Operation Sindoor,” targeting alleged terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. The operation was in retaliation for a deadly attack in Pahalgam, Indian-administered Kashmir, which killed 26 people.

Pakistan condemned the strikes as an “act of war,” reporting civilian casualties and vowing a strong response. In retaliation, Pakistan claimed to have shot down five Indian fighter jets.

The escalating conflict has drawn international concern, with global leaders urging both nuclear-armed nations to de-escalate tensions and prioritize diplomatic solutions.
