China has officially extended its reduced visa fee policy until December 31, 2026, keeping visa costs lower for international travelers. The decision, confirmed by Chinese embassies worldwide, ensures continued relief for tourists, business visitors, and frequent travelers while supporting China’s push to revive global travel.

Under the extended policy, visa applicants will continue to benefit from approximately 25 percent lower fees compared to pre-2023 rates. The discounted charges apply to single-entry, double-entry, and multiple-entry visas, with no changes to eligibility criteria or the application process. Only the reduced fee structure will remain in place.

China has also extended its fingerprint exemption for short-term visas until the end of 2026. Travelers visiting China for up to 180 days will not be required to submit fingerprints when applying for tourist, business, family visit, or transit visas. Officials say the move is aimed at simplifying procedures and reducing processing time.

The reduced visa fee policy was initially introduced as a temporary measure to encourage international travel after global disruptions. Its extension signals China’s long-term commitment to attracting foreign visitors. Chinese embassies in countries including France, the UK, Canada, and Saudi Arabia have confirmed that no new rules accompany the extension.

Officials clarified that the fee reduction applies only to official embassy visa charges. In countries where visa application centers are used, standard service fees will still apply. The policy also complements China’s 30-day unilateral visa-free entry for citizens of 45 countries, which remains valid until December 31, 2026.
