Chinese Giants to Invest in Punjab: Multi-Billion-Rupee Investments

Two major Chinese companies have shown strong interest in launching large-scale projects in Punjab. Their investment plans span the textile, auto parts, and transport sectors. The proposals came during a meeting held on Thursday at the Punjab Small Industries Corporation (PSIC) House.

Representatives from Shenzhen Sea Energy Power Holding Company met Punjab Minister for Industries and Commerce Chaudhry Shafay Hussain and shared their plans for new industrial units. The company aims to invest in textile and auto parts manufacturing.

Patrick, who led the Shenzhen delegation, said the group needs 250 acres in the Quaid-i-Azam Business Park in Sheikhupura to establish its facilities. He added that the company is ready to move forward as soon as the land is allocated.

Zhihyuzun Group also presented its investment proposal. The company plans to invest Rs. 3 billion in Punjab’s transport sector through a public-private partnership.

Mr Luo, the head of the group, said the company will launch an intercity bus project in two phases. The first phase will introduce 120 buses, while the second phase will expand the fleet with 300 more buses. He added that the company may shift its bus manufacturing plant to Punjab if the project performs well.

Minister Shafay welcomed the proposals and assured full government support. He said Punjab’s Special Economic Zones offer strong incentives for foreign investors. He added that Punjab has become a preferred destination due to its favourable business environment.

Minister Shafay also highlighted that Chinese companies can obtain industrial land on a 30-year lease, which the government can extend for another 30 years. Additionally, the government is setting up a community centre for foreign investors in the Faisalabad Industrial Estate to further support long-term investment plans.

Officials from the Punjab Board of Investment & Trade, including Director Dr Imran Hashmi and Executive Member Wahab Tariq Butt, also attended the meeting. The proposed projects are expected to create around 21,000 jobs in the province.
