Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz recently launched the “Chief Minister Cardiac Surgery Program”. This initiative provides free and timely treatment to patients suffering from heart diseases across the province of Punjab.
The “Chief Minister Cardiac Surgery Program” is currently operational in nine public and 15 private cardiac institutions throughout Punjab. These facilities offer free treatment to all eligible patients. Furthermore, authorities have already performed the first successful open-heart surgery under this program. This initial procedure took place at the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) Lahore.
The provincial government allocated more than Rs. 3 billion annually for the “Chief Minister Cardiac Surgery Program”. Consequently, officials aim to clear the existing waiting lists for open-heart surgeries within the next six months. Maryam Nawaz emphasized that the government intends to expand access to advanced healthcare. Therefore, the focus remains on ensuring free and high-quality treatment for every cardiac patient in the province.
Patients requiring guidance or registration can access several dedicated communication channels. The government established a primary helpline at 0800-09009. Additionally, citizens can call 042-99066000 from Monday to Saturday. This line remains active between 08:00 AM and 11:00 PM.
