The Punjab government has approved a new welfare initiative called the Chief Minister Punjab Rehmat Card to provide financial support to widowed women and orphaned children. The program aims to help vulnerable families by offering direct financial assistance through a transparent digital system.
Officials say the scheme will be launched shortly after Eid.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz formally approved the initiative and directed the relevant departments to start preparations for its implementation.
According to officials, the government has developed a digital system to ensure that financial support reaches deserving families without delays or irregularities. The system is designed to maintain transparency and make the distribution process easier for beneficiaries.
Under the program, widowed women will receive financial assistance of Rs 100,000. Orphaned children will also receive support, with each child eligible for Rs 25,000 under the scheme.
Officials say the Rehmat Card program is part of the Punjab government’s broader efforts to strengthen social welfare and provide relief to families facing financial difficulties.
During a briefing on the project, Special Assistant for Ushr and Zakat Rashid Nasrullah presented the details of the scheme to the chief minister and explained how the assistance would be distributed.
Speaking on the occasion, Maryam Nawaz said the government wants to ensure that widowed women in Punjab receive proper support and do not feel abandoned or helpless. She said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to improving the welfare of vulnerable groups.
