Pakistan’s electric vehicle (EV) market is poised for another major expansion as Geely cars in Pakistan are set to arrive soon through a landmark agreement between Capital Smart Motors (CSM) and Chinese automaker Geely.
Capital Smart Motors, a new venture by Habib Rafiq Limited, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Geely to bring three of its premium NEV brands, Zeekr, Riddara, and Farizon, to Pakistan. The collaboration aims to reshape the country’s mobility landscape by introducing advanced, sustainable electric vehicles to the market.
CSM’s parent company, known for large-scale projects like Capital Smart City and Lahore Smart City, is leveraging its development expertise to enter the automotive sector. The partnership with Geely highlights a strategic move to blend real estate success with automotive innovation.
Although specific models have not been disclosed yet, it has been confirmed that Zeekr will launch premium electric sedans and crossovers, Riddara will offer rugged EV pickups, and Farizon will supply electric commercial vehicles such as trucks and buses. Internationally, Zeekr models like the 007, Mix, X, and 001 have already impressed with their futuristic designs and premium features.
Sources close to the matter suggest that Capital Smart Motors plans to begin sales in the coming months. If timelines are met, Geely cars in Pakistan could quickly establish themselves as major contenders in the fast-growing EV segment.
The entry of Geely follows a trend where global brands such as BYD, Deepal, Honri Ve, and Seres have launched their electric vehicles in Pakistan. The momentum has been further supported by the government’s National Electric Vehicle (NEV) Policy, introduced in 2024, which offers incentives for consumers and manufacturers while promoting green energy solutions.
In a major boost to EV adoption, the government also reduced electricity tariffs for EV charging stations from Rs 71 to Rs 39.70 per unit in January 2025 — a 44% decrease. Alongside, the National Energy Conservation Authority (NEECA) introduced new regulations for setting up EV charging and battery swapping stations, laying down the infrastructure needed for brands like Geely to thrive.
