Confirmed: Pakistan to Face Internet Shutdown on October 14 Due to Cable Maintenance

Nayatel, PTCL, Ufone announced that emergency maintenance on one of Pakistan’s submarine internet cables is scheduled for October 14, 2025, at approximately 11 AM.
This maintenance is expected to last up to 18 hours, which may lead to slowdowns in internet service nationwide.
Additionally, internet service providers such as Stormfiber, Cybernet, and FlashFiber may also experience disruptions during this time, as they share the same submarine cable infrastructure.
However, Transworld may not be affected, as they utilize a different submarine cable for their services. PTCL has previously confirmed major repair work on the submarine cable, indicating a significant impact on internet connectivity during the maintenance window.
According to Nayatel’s official post on X, the maintenance work is essential to ensure stable and improved internet connectivity across the country.
“An emergency maintenance activity is planned on one of Pakistan’s submarine cables on October 14, 2025, at around 11 AM, which can last up to 18 hours. This may cause internet slowness across Pakistan,” the company stated.
Submarine cables are critical for Pakistan’s global internet connectivity, carrying most of the country’s international data traffic. Maintenance or damage to these cables often results in temporary service disruptions or reduced speeds for users.
Telecom experts suggest that users may experience slower browsing and streaming during this period, especially during peak hours. Internet service providers are expected to route traffic through alternate channels to minimize the impact.
