Corruption Scandal Rocks Balochistan Education Board
The Balochistan Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) has launched a major crackdown on the IT Wing of the Balochistan Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BBISE) Quetta, arresting two senior officials for manipulating exam results and tampering with official records.
This operation comes amid growing concerns about transparency in Pakistan’s education sector. Past complaints of irregularities in examination results had raised alarms, prompting the provincial government to direct ACE for strict action against those exploiting the system.
According to the inquiry, System Analyst Muhammad Owais and Computer Programmer Waseem Noor misused the “super admin” ID to alter exam scores, tamper with Detailed Marks Certificates (DMCs), and illegally access records from the 2024 HSSC exams. Officials confirmed the manipulation was carried out for financial gain and nepotism. Both have been booked under corruption laws and remain in custody, while further arrests are expected.
DG ACE Abdul Waheed Kakar stressed that eradicating corruption in education is a top priority under CM Mir Sarfraz Bugti’s vision. “Corruption is poison for the education system, and we are determined to root it out at every level,” he said.
The BISE chairman assured students that justice will be delivered, while authorities called the operation a “significant step” toward cleansing Balochistan’s education system.
How will the inquiry ensure affected students’ results are corrected?
